A splurge of product announcements from HP cover the gamut from inexpensive personal printers to high-volume photo printing. One standout is the first DLNA certified printer.

HP has used the 2009 PMA trade show in Las Vegas to announce a diverse set of products and services.

Of note is the HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One. Priced at $US299, this multifunction device has several convenient features.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet, and DLNA certification means it can be used to print from other DLNA devices including the PlayStation 3.

It can also print from cell phones (including the iPhone) and other handheld devices including PDAs and PictBridge-compliant cameras.

If you're looking for a low-cost printer, the Deskjet D2600 is made from 50 percent recycled materials and will sell for just $US49.

With drivers for Windows and Mac OS X, the D2600 is said to be "great for first-time printer owners, families needing an additional printer, and college students."

At the other extreme is the customised version of the HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press. Intended for high-volume customers such as print shops, the new package will be customised for photo printing, including the production of lay-flat photo book covers.

So what about the services announcements? See page 2.
