In fact, 99 out of 100 of the worst congested cities in the United States saw its traffic get better (less congestion) over the previous year (2007).

Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was the lone city in the top 100 that saw in increase in traffic jams. It had a 6% increase in overall congestion.

Because of this increase, the city of Baton Rouge rocketed from 47th on the list to 33rd in overall congestion.

The worst “bottleneck” remained the same from 2007 to 2008.

INRIX reports that in New York the worst traffic jam remains “… a westbound stretch of the Cross Bronx Expressway/I-95 leading up to and including the Bronx River Parkway exit 4B interchange.”

The INRIX Scorecard uses data compiled from traffic on the nearly 50,000 miles of major roadways in the United States.

The company, INRIX, Inc., uses tens of billions of "data points" from its network of cars and trucks using the Global Positioning System (GPS) on over 800,000 miles of U.S. roads.

Page three reports on a comment made by INRIX president and CEO, along with the top ten congested cities in the United States.
