According to the Alliance, as a board member, ISOC will have a leadership role in its collaboration activities which include working with other standards bodies, industry groups and identity-related organisations to help foster interoperability and harmonisation of Internet-based initiatives, specifications and protocols.

According to ISOC's director of trust and identity initiatives, Lucy Lynch, "promoting and developing the technical foundations of online identity and trust that will be crucial in supporting interoperable, secure and privacy-preserving applications and services on the Internet.
