Verizon Business is rolling out a new single-source model for the procurement of customer premises equipment (CPE) and other support services in 122 countries and territories that it says will provide multinational enterprises with a simpler, cost-effective way to build, support and manage their global networks. The new model will be supported by global agreements with seven equipment manufacturers, distributors and resellers that will enable enterprise customers to take advantage of volume discounts and other advantageous terms. Customers will have the option to contract and bill centrally, regionally or locally for the costs associated with multi-country deployments of CPE and related lifecycle and management support services. Agreements have been put in place with: Avaya for contact centre, IP telephony, mobility, unified communications; with Cisco for networking, conferencing, unified communications and collaboration, security and wireless LAN; with Fluke Networks for networked application performance, monitoring and analysis; with Juniper Networks for networking, security, unified access and WAN acceleration; with NCR for consulting and support services; with Tandberg for telepresence and videoconferencing and with Tech Data/Azlan for logistics distribution services for equipment from multiple manufacturers. Further expansion of the program is planned for 2009, with the addition of other vendors as well as expanded reach in more countries. |
