Andrew, the CommScope division which manufactures wireless communication systems and products, recently won the Golden Award for Green Communication Energy-Efficiency Technology in an industry contest held in China.

Andrew announced in Singapore today that the company was one of two companies to win the gold award for green innovation in the Third Competition for Outstanding Information Application Developments, organized by the China Information Industry Net (CNII), the Chinese media agency affiliated with the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The announcement by Andrew said the company’s Heliax 2.0 FXL aluminum radio frequency (RF) cable was singled out as the company was awarded “for its distinguished contributions in developing cutting-edge technologies that enable telecom operators to boost energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and improve profitability.”

Andrew’s Ben Cardwell, vice president of sales and marketing, Asia-Pacific said in anticipation of the changing landscape in China’s telecom industry, Andrew is ready to use our cutting-edge technology and sophisticated application experiences to assist the Chinese operators in building eco-friendly mobile communication networks.”

According to Cardwell, Andrew’s HELIAX FXL aluminium RF cables use lighter weight aluminium as the electrical conduit of the cable’s outer conductor.

“Compared with traditional all-copper cables, HELIAX FXL is more energy efficient, durable, and has greater flexibility. It requires less electric power and fuel to manufacture and transport, and HELIAX FXL conforms to the European Union’s RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and China’s RoHS SJ/T 11364-2006 directives,” Cardwell said.

Cardwell said Andrew had long played a significant role in the Chinese market, currently employing thousands of employees in multiple cities including Suzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen.
