Win a round-trip ticket into space onboard one of Virgin Galactic’s private fleet of spacecraft. The contest by Australia’s Virgin Blue, and co-sponsored by U.S.A.’s Mojave Aerospace Ventures, will award twenty-five million frequent flyer miles to one lucky space traveler.

Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Galactic (headquartered in New Mexico), stated, “The deal with Mojave Aerospace Ventures is just the start of what we believe will be a new era in the history of mankind, one day making the affordable exploration of space by human beings a real possibility." Virgin Blue's Velocity loyalty program is sponsoring the outer-space contest, which was first announced on February 2, 2009.

Check out the Velocity program at “Velocity Rewards” or go directly to “25MillionPoints.”

The SpiceNews.com.au article “Win A Trip To Outer Space On Virgin Galactic,” states that this is “By far the most outrageous prize ever offered from a frequent flyer program anywhere on the planet, the trip on Virgin Galactic is part of a ’25 Million Velocity Point’ campaign launched yesterday (Feb 2).”

The Velocity Rewards website states, “Up for it? Here's how to win. Either transfer points from selected Card Partners to us, or earn Velocity Points with our airline and shopping partners. Every single Velocity Point earns you a competition entry. Only one person can be our lucky winner.”

And, “Our Partners are offering huge bonus deals throughout the competition - at least 25% bonus Velocity Points with the banks and up to 200% with our shopping partners. (Every single bonus Velocity Point also puts you in the running)."

The trip to outer space is worth A$310,000 (about US$201,600; as of February 4, 2009).

Page two continues with more details of this out-of-this-world contest.
