A 12-year Hewlett Packard Australia veteran is to take up a senior management role as Vice President and General Manager of Industry Standard Servers for HP in Asia Pacific and Japan.

HP said today that Stephen Bovis will relocate this week from Australia to Singapore, where his new job will focus on “extending HP's leadership in the blade server and virtualisation market across the region, as well as driving growth in the x86 business.”

A company spokesperson said Stephen Bovis was well known throughout the IT industry for his leadership across HP's Enterprise Storage & Servers (ESS) business in the South Pacific, during which time HP in Australia gained strong, above-market growth in the region, there was development of the ESS Channel Specialisation Program and investment in the “renowned” Business Partner Solutions Architect Program.

Bovis said strong customer focus and “a leadership position for HP servers & storage in Australia and New Zealand has been made possible through the efforts of a strong team and our network of partners.”

Bovis will report to fellow Australian, Tony Parkinson, who heads up HP’s ESS business in Asia Pacific and Japan.
