Back in 2006 rumours of RockStar producing a Nintendo Wii version of Grand Theft Auto were filling up the pipes of the internet. And still they won’t die.Featured Whitepaper
5 Best Practices for Smartphone Support
The story done on iTWire has been a favourite discussion point for many since then, with speculation continuing to surround the possibilities of bringing Nintendo’s motion controllers to the GTA universe. Hot Coffee not withstanding! Even recently, this week, the speculation remains. iTWire being directed to a German games site purporting to show game-play images for GTA IV on the Wii. All manner of game-play is shown, from fist fights, driving, shooting and all the other wholesome activities that are undertaken during a GTA IV session, and all done with motion controller movements. So iTWire thought it would again put the question to RockStar games . But the answer was a predictable “RockStar make no comment in relation to rumours”. The folk from RockStar are a little focussed at the moment, with their first foray into down load content in the form of The Lost and Damned about to be released. Then GTA comes to Nintendo in the form of Chinatown Wars on the DS. RockStar Games have also released a patch for GTA IV on PC today: “Today, we released patch version 1.2 for Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC. A variety of fixes and enhancements were applied, including new sliders in the graphics menu for "Water Quality", "Shadow Quality", and "Reflection Resolution" to grant players more freedom to customize graphical settings as they see fit. Additionally, as a result of the patch we had to disable the default setting for direct input device support. To re-activate your supported gamepad simply enter the commandline, "-usedirectinput". The patch also addresses a variety of issues including, but not limited to, graphical optimization; bugs introduced with the release of patch 1; multiplayer and video editor fixes; and security updates." But back to the case in point, the German blog site looks awfully convincing, except when you dig a little further. There is definitely no Wii image directory on the server as mentioned. Secondly, that is no dev-kit Wii pictured. Not necessarily condemning information, but still a further nail in the story coffin. Still it would be fun, adult Wii owners should expect to get content more orientated to their demographic, such as the GTA series. So if it is true, good luck to them. |
