The developer of a weather widget for the chumby has won first prize in a competition organised by the local agent for the wireless widget appliance.

Shortly after introducing the chumby Internet widget box to Australia late last year, ISP Internode launched a competition aimed at stimulating the local development of widgets for the touch-screen device.

THe judges have deliberated, and the first prize has gone to the creator of an Australian Weather Radar widget that collects and displays weather data including satellite images from the Bureau of Meteorology.

Australian Weather Radar was entered by thinkQuick Software, a small developer based in Victoria.

thinkQuick's principal purchased a chumby from the US before they went on sale in Australia, and created the widget last April.

thinkQuick has also developed a stock price widget, as well as a widget that displays the most recently released widgets.

What did thinkQuick win, and what was the other prizewinner? See page 2.
