Colman concluded, "Not every kid has this terrible road in front of them. There are going to be success stories emerge from these groups. I think we need to look at what's different about those kids and single out what were the things that supported them in getting their lives back on track." [PhysOrg.com]

To learn more about children behavior problems, go to the University of Michigan Health System website “Your Child: Behavior Problems” and the FamilyDoctor.org website “Child Behavior: What Parents Can Do to Change Their Child's Behavior.”

Bad behaviors in children can be stopped by parents.

The FamilyDoctor.org article states, “Children tend to continue a behavior when it is rewarded and stop a behavior when it is ignored. Consistency in your reaction to a behavior is important because rewarding and punishing the same behavior at different times confuses your child."

"When your child's behavior is a problem, you have 3 choices:

•    Decide that the behavior is not a problem because it's appropriate to the child's age and stage of development.

•    Attempt to stop the behavior, either by ignoring it or by punishing it.

•    Introduce a new behavior that you prefer and reinforce it by rewarding your child.
