To access to BigPond Health, visit BigPond.com and click the Health tab. As usual for Telstra’s own content, it notes that “BigPond Health is unmetered for most BigPond broadband customers, which means using the site does not count towards a customer’s monthly usage allowance.” Telstra says that “BigPond Health does not give advice on individual medical conditions” and cautions that “such advice should be sought from your doctor.” Given that “telemedicine” is often described as a benefit to high-speed broadband, I wonder how long it will be before an online video consultation could be organised via the BigPond Health site? It will likely be years before this becomes a reality, and would probably be initiated via individual medical practices or hospitals before it ever goes live on BigPond Health, but it would certainly be an interesting and surely inevitable development. |
