How much do you earn? If you are a London-based IT worker the news is not good. According to the latest salary survey from IT recruitment specialist CV Screen, salaries for tech workers in London have fallen over the last 12 months. Featured Whitepaper

Not that all budgets are being stretched to breaking point, those in the IT Security sector look like having the most money to spend in the coming year it seems. But that salary survey, monitoring some 35 IT job roles in London from more than 2000 advertised positions, saw the average salary fall by 2.3 percent across the year. This leaves the average wage for an IT worker in the UK Capital at UKP £37,707. The number of people in London registering for work in the IT sector is up, by 24 percent over the same period from the previous year. CV Screen’s Account Manager for London, Alex Lawson, who compiled the survey, says “The fall in IT Salaries in London was to be expected given the challenging economic climate and the increase in candidate availability will continue to put downward pressure on IT Salaries in London over the next 12 months." Not that it is all bad news, according to Lawson there are still companies looking for talented IT professionals in London "We continue to see a high demand for candidates with PHP, .Net and C# development skills" he told us. The good news is that the demand for IT staff, at least in London, would appear to be slowing at a slower rate than other sectors. Which means that the predicted crisis in IT employment might not actually happen after all. |
