iPhone for sale, only $2.5 million plus change E-mail

How much did you pay for your iPhone 3G? Too much, I suspect is the most common reply. Now, as the credit crunch starts biting hard, one enterprising soul thought the time must be right to try and flog the world's most expensive iPhone.

Hot on the heels of more depressing news of swathing job cuts in the IT sector as the economic crisis worsens, comes the equally depressing news that for some bling is the thing no matter how gloomy the outlook.

The 'I Am Rich ' application which blinged up your iPhone by basically displaying a picture of a shining jewel lasted long enough at the App Store to make at least one sale at an outrageous USD $999.

But that was positively bargain bucket stuff compared to the Apple iPhone 3G King's Button which has just gone on sale for USD $2,517,345. Yes, you did read that right: an iPhone 3G can be yours for just 2.5 million US dollars plus change.

Austrian jeweller Peter Aloisson has built something of a reputation for taking pretty ordinary mobile phones, encrusting them with diamonds and selling them to rich idiots for a King's ransom.

The iPhone 3G is no exception, from the solid 18 carat yellow gold casing to the white gold handset surround encrusted with no less than 138 high quality and brilliant cut diamonds.

Although that is but the appetiser in this particular display of gadget gluttony. The main course being the replacement of the standard 'home' button with a whopping great 6.6 carat diamond! No doubt someone will be stupid enough, just as with the I Am Rich application, to buy this badly timed monstrosity.

PS. Anyone want to buy a Nokia 95 which has been spray painted silver and has some scrunched up tinfoil stuck on the joystick button? I can do you a much better price than Mr Aloisson.
