Headquartered in the Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center near Colorado Springs, Colorado (United States), the NORAD organization is a joint effort of Canada and the United States to provide aerospace warning, air sovereignty, and defense for North America. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has also reported for several years that it provides an emergency landing facility on the three-mile-long Shuttle Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. NASA has not verified whether Santa has even needed to use this landing strip but does acknowledge that “there have been suspicious 'blips' during the time he would be making his Florida rounds." In addition, "... some reindeer 'signs' have been observed by landing strip workers performing routine runway checks after returning to work from the Christmas holiday.” [NASA: “Santa Claus May Be Shooting Landings at KSC Shuttle Landing Strip”] Santa’s public relations director, Nicholas Claus, states that the Jolly Old Elf has been keeping up with the ever-increasing population of children around the world. Nicholas Claus states, "The boss could never have succeeded in meeting his obligations to the world's kids had he kept the old fleet of sleighs.” Further holly-jolly information on Santa, along with his sleigh and flying reindeer, is found on page two. |
