5 Best Practices for Smartphone Support
As Sackboy progresses through the early levels many a tutorial will kick in to expand the players LBP knowledge. These are presented well and are highly entertaining; with the ‘very British’ voice over digging up memories of Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy radio and TV show segments by the late Peter Jones in the early eighties. It is quickly obvious that Sackboy needs to collect things, especially the bigger bubble things that contain items such as clothing, stickers and other decorative materials. Bounding through to the level end is not enough; LBP in its early stages is a 3D platforming treasure hunt. Eventually you will learn how to modify your Sackperson, giving them some clothing, or stamping them with the odd sticker or stamp. This is the first step of many that will utilise the Popit interface, a little floating tool that will be used all through your Sackperson’s creative adventures in LBP. Then there is the Pod, an orbiting space station for one (initially), that like your Sackling (errrk!) can be customised with newly gathered items. So far so good, LBP is pretty much a 3D platforming Sims game. It is at this point though that the online component of LBP comes into play, and it is here where the scope of what LBP has to offer begins to dawn. A whole new couple of moons open up beyond the supplied levels planetoid provided by Media Molecule. One provides the portal to online content, the other a blank canvas for you to create your own LBP levels – but you are not ready for that yet. First you should continue further through the Media Molecule created levels. Traversing Story mode will help in a number of areas. Firstly it simply unlocks more LBP building blocks for later use, secondly you will get inspired by the Media Molecule levels, which at first, look to be too complex to replicate. ![]() After a period, you will be either inspired or intrigued to explore your creative side, landing on the yet to be coloured hessian ‘my moon’ for some level building. The Hitchhiker voice over guy will now gently increase the daunt level as he shows you the ropes of using the Popit menu to create your own LBP levels. Using your own imagination, local events, past experiences or simply being getting inspiration from the canned levels it is time to start creating. |
