Mark Shuttleworth, founder of the Ubuntu project said: “Outside of the browser, developers have traditionally had to choose one or maybe two operating systems when building an application to keep development time down and costs low. “With Adobe AIR 1.5, companies and developers can easily target all three major operating systems with a single code base, transforming the application development paradigm and elevating Linux to the same level as Mac and Windows.” Adobe AIR 1.5 for Linux is available immediately as a free download from the Adobe AIR website. The Linux version of Adobe AIR 1.5 includes support for Fedora 8, Ubuntu 7.10, and openSUSE 10.3. The Adobe AIR 1.5 for Linux software development kit is also available for free. As noted in the comments, although Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 is not officially supported, the software should run on newer Fedora, Ubuntu and openSUSE versions, and hopefully those newer distros will become officially supported relatively soon. You can also download it for Windows and Macintosh operating systems. |
