Websense, Inc. (NASDAQ: WBSN) today announced that new independent testing confirms Websense leadership in Secure Web Gateway technology – testing that demonstrates how the Websense Web Security Gateway exceeds other vendors in meeting industry analyst criteria for malware protection, data loss prevention, and Web 2.0 threat detection, accuracy and effectiveness The Tolly Group’s “The Web Security Challenge: A Competitive Guide to Selecting Secure Web Gateways” (Document #208326, November 2008) notes that Websense Web Security Gateway combines powerful and easy-to-manage software with the ability to mitigate dynamic Web-based threats, exceeding other vendors tested in meeting industry analyst criteria for buying Secure Web Gateways. “The ability of a secure Web gateway to detect malicious content accurately on dynamic Web sites like Web 2.0 relies greatly on real-time analysis of content, and not just on the reputation of Web sites,” said Kevin Tolly, president and chief executive officer, The Tolly Group. “While many of the products we tested excelled in one or maybe two areas, only the Websense Web Security Gateway delivered uniformly high performance and was feature-rich across all functional areas.” Key Findings: § In malware protection – the Websense Web Security Gateway blocked more Internet-based threats, provided the easiest to use interface and delivered greater scalability than any of the other products tested. In fact, the nearest competitor missed eight times more Web exploits than Websense and Websense classified almost 30 percent more of the “unknown Web” than the next competitor. § In Web 2.0 – the Websense Web Security Gateway earned a score of 98.9 percent.
