Most of the time it works well for me. Sure, it sometimes stops for a tea break when I close one of many tabs or windows, and it has once or twice crashed completely on me, but by and large I'm comfortable with it. I like the overall look, I like the bookmark system, and... well, maybe it's simply a matter of habit, but it just seems comfortable to me. But there is a problem, and it's a big one. The software that runs iTWire doesn't play nicely with Safari when it comes to entering and editing articles. Sure, it's fine for viewing the website, but there's at least one essential feature of the editor that just won't work if you're using Safari. So for entering stories I resorted to Firefox. Now I know Firefox has its fans, and some of them are probably taking umbrage about my choice of the word "resorted", but hear me out. iTWire's editor software works just fine with Firefox. Version 3 is visibly faster than version 2, and since Mozilla is about to stop supporting version 2 in terms of security updates I really feel I shouldn't be using the older version. So what's stopping me from making Firefox 'the' browser? See page 2. |
