5 Best Practices for Smartphone Support
“Customers can now use a single device to log on and access their emails, catch up on the latest news headlines, or update their social networking page, anywhere, anytime,” concluded Goff. Evan Williams, Dell Australia’s general manager for Consumer Sales and Marketing said, “Dell Australia is excited to be the first company to offer a netbook in Australia with embedded mobile broadband. “Our plans have been to give users the best mobile experience possible – and today’s news demonstrates how we are doing this.” The Mini 9 with Vodafone 3.5G will cost $0 upfront on an AUD $69.95 per month plan over 24 months. This includes 5GB of Mobile Broadband data per month. Given that Vodafone offers 5GB for $39.95 per month using a USB stick, this effective means the Mini 9 is costing $30 per month. Over 24 months, the Mini 9 is then costing $720 as part of the deal, which is a small premium over the non 3.5G equipped model at an online price of $548.90, a premium of $171.10 to be exact. Given that companies like 3 Mobile are selling their USB 3.5G modem sticks for $129, it looks like a great deal, especially when you consider you’re paying it off over 24 months. The minimum cost of the $69.95 per month over 24 months is $1,678.80, which is obviously $171.10 more than buying a separate Vodafone 3.5G USB stick costing $39.95 per month and a standard Mini 9 without inbuilt modem. Vodafone’s notes say that approved customers must pay by direct debit, and that the “offer is subject to change and available in selected stores while stocks last.” There is an “Early Exit Fee is $55” of ($25 5GB mobile broadband plan plus $30 for Netbook) x months remaining on contract. Unused data expires each month and Vodafone says is for use in Australia only, with excess data charged at 0.10c/MB. In addition, “the Inspiron Mini 9 Netbook that is supplied by Dell to Vodafone is not for individual sale by Vodafone without a Vodafone Mobile Broadband plan.” “Selected” Vodafone stores will carry the offer, and it will be advertised and available online at Vodafone’s website. Full specifications of the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with Built-in Mobile Broadband Technical Specifications are on page 3. |
