Sony used free PS3s to shift Bravia HDTVs in a promotion earlier this
year – now Panasonic is offering a “Bonus Wii” with every VIERA Full HD
Plasma TV to boost sales in the most crucial Christmas season ever in
the face of the global economic crisis. Featured Whitepaper
5 Best Practices for Smartphone Support
Panasonic says that consumers who “purchase one of Panasonic’s stunning Full High Definition (FHD) 1080p Plasma TVs between 29 November and 24 December, 2008 will receive via redemption a Bonus Wii which includes Wii Sports, valued at AUD $399.95”. Paul Reid, Director, Consumer Electronics Group, Panasonic Australia said: “Following on from our strong Olympic campaign, we are working with retailers to give consumers a sensational reason to buy this Christmas.” “Wii has been very successful in the marketplace, and VIERA Full High Definition Plasmas create the best big screen experience, making this an unbeatable offer that the whole family will love,” continued Reid. Of course, given that plasma TVs still cost thousands of dollars, if you have the money to buy one, you’re probably not short of a quid to buy a separate Wii, nor the additional cash you’ll need to splash to buy extra controllers, games titles and accessories like the Wii Fit, none of which are part of the promotion – as is normally the case with such giveaways. Still, Panasonic’s “Full HD VIERA Plasma TVs” are no slouches and are among the top brands in the market. Panasonic boasts its latest VIERA models “offer 134 billion viewable colours for powerfully-rich and smooth colour, while the dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 creates deep blacks for an amazing viewing experience... ideal for cinematic movie experiences and fast moving action”. The Bonus Wii promotion commences on Saturday 29 November, 2008 and Panasonic says it will be “supported by a strong marketing campaign including a Television Commercial, Print, and Radio Advertising.” The eligible Panasonic models in the Bonus Wii promotion are listed on page 2. |
