Telstra’s Next G network is getting some of the hottest new phones, and
wouldn’t you know it, it’s just in time for Christmas. From a new
version of Telstra’s “Country Phone”, a new “simple” phone, to the top
new handsets from Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung, Telstra’s hoping

Add to that the fact most phones are purchased on a plan, and not paid for upfront, mobile phones sales probably won’t be as hard hit as has been predicted, with IDC saying that mobile phones sales have been struck by the financial crisis, while Ovum thinks the market for mobile connections will keep growing. Now that Telstra has started its big Next G advertising promotion, which will continue over the next few months at Telstra rubbishes the network quality of its competitors, having some nifty new high-end handsets (and one very simple one) on sale in stores is all part of the plan. Telstra’s Executive Director of Product Management, Ross Fielding, said that: “Telstra now offers customers more than 60 Next G mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDA's), ensuring everyone can have a solution suited to their communication needs. "From simple talk and text devices to those with cutting-edge entertainment and advanced business functions and others offering superior handheld regional coverage, there is something to suit everyone's needs in our latest offering. "Customers living in rural and regional areas will benefit from two new 'Blue Tick' rated mobile phones, meaning they are recommended for handheld use in these areas. "With Christmas just around the corner, we are making it even easier for customers to connect and stay in touch over Telstra's world leading Next G network," fielded Fielding.
