Lanner Unveils 16-Channel NVR at G2E E-mail
Thursday, 27 November 2008
VN-2016 16-channel NVR captures, encodes and stores up to 16 channels of Full D1 resolution digital video in H.264 format Lanner Electronics, a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative network video platforms, today announced the release of its latest Network Video Recorder, the VN-2016. Lanner unveiled the platform developed to service the rapidly growing network video market at the 2008 G2E Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas.

The Lanner VN-2016 is a 16-channel NVR with onboard H.264 AVC encoding processor, 16-channel audio inputs and audio/video synchronization, two gigabit Ethernet ports and support for Intel Core 2 Quad CPUs. The VN-2016 also provides RAID storage and four internal SATA-II drive bays, along with a slim optical drive bay for a CD/DVD burner. Expansion options include two SATA-II interfaces for additional DVD-RW and SATA-II DOM, and a PCI-E slot for independent graphics or an additional video capture card.

"The VN-2016 delivers an optimal combination of price and performance in a 16-channel video server,” said Tim Chen, Vice President of Video Communications. "Managing and maintaining network video has never been faster and more efficient than today. With the extremely efficient H.264 codec and gigabit Ethernet, higher video quality can be achieved with far less bandwidth consumption, which leads to lower network infrastructure costs and better return on investment. The VN-2016 achieves stunning video quality without bogging down network traffic," he said.

Lanner’s new NVR also includes advanced RAID technology for superior data protection. The Intel Q35+ICH9DO chipset provides the storage benefits of Intel Matrix Storage Technology, Intel Rapid Recover Technology and Intel Turbo Memory, and supports RAID levels 0,1,10 and 5 to ensure that important digital video files are protec ted against hard drive failure. By seamlessly storing data on multiple hard drives, any hard drive can fail without data loss or system downtime.

"As a member of the Intel Embedded and Communications Alliance, Lanner has a wealth of experience building application platforms optimized for reliability and longevity based on quality Intel components including chipsets and CPUs," said Tim Chen. "Mainstream Intel parts like the Q35 chipset and Core 2 processors offer long product lifecycle support, which is another reason that customers trust Lanner platforms – for their reliability and longevity."

The VN-2016 Network Video Recorder is available for sample orders immediately.
