Rockstar Games have released the first details of the upcoming download material for Grand Theft Auto IV.  Time to join a biker gang and take on Liberty City from a whole new perspective.

The Lost and Damned is the first episode of downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV.  Something that Microsoft reputedly paid US$50 million for the exclusive privilege.gtaladlogo.jpg

The Lost and Damned follows a new character and plot that intersects with the storyline of Grand Theft Auto IV; new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City with new multiplayer modes, weapons and vehicles; and a diverse soundtrack with additional music.

As a member of bikie gang The Lost, Johnny Klebitz will follow quite a different path through the grind of Librty City life than the original games main character Niko Bellic. Unlike Niko’s struggle as a new immigrant looking for a new life, work and love, Klebitz will be deeply involved in gang culture from the start.

"Johnny is a very different character than Niko, with a very different background," says Dan Houser, vice president of creative development for Rockstar Games. "I can't go into too much detail on the story, because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side of Liberty City."

"The story is not directly impacted by decisions you took in the main game," Houser says. But "tons of details and mysteries from the main story get explained, so it will add a lot of colour to the main story."

The Lost and Damned is the first of two episodes planned as part of the exclusive Xbox 360 content deal done with Microsoft at the beginning of the year.

Target date for release is Feburary 17th 2009 and will require Xbox LIVE membership.

"Making these episodes has enabled us to expand the narrative and the experience of interacting with a game world in really innovative ways," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "We hope fans of the game enjoy the new way of experiencing life in Liberty City contained in this first episode."gtaivlad.jpg
