The EVA is to be conducted by NASA mission specialists Stefanyshyn-Piper and Bowen. During the first EVA, Stefanyshyn-Piper and Bowen will transfer an empty Nitrogen Tank Assembly from External Stowage Platform-3 and place it inside the space shuttle’s cargo bay. They will also transfer a new Flex Hose Rotary Coupler to the External Stowage Platform-3; remove an insulation cover from the berthing mechanism of the Kibo External Facility; and clean and lubricate the starboard Solar Alpha Rotary Joint (SARJ). After completing their fifteen-day mission, the crew is expected to land at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Saturday, November 29, 2008. Landing is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. EST. |
