Novell has appointed Alan Robinson as its Australia and New Zealand managing director.

"With Alan at the helm now, we are confident that our business will continue to steer ahead and grow from strength to strength in ANZ," said Maarten Koster, president and general manager of Novell Asia Pacific.

Robinson recently worked with venture capitalists and in advisory and executive coaching roles with early stage IT companies in Australia and Europe. He previously worked for Oracle, CSC, Informix, and Vitria, and has seven years experience in managing director roles.

"I am very excited to join Novell at a time when customers are more than ever demanding cost-effective, efficient solutions to their IT problems," said Robinson.

Robinson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Melbourne, and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
