All-in-One Video Motherboard Handles 16 Channels of H.264 Video E-mail

Lanner introduces industry’s first x86 video encoding motherboard with 16-channel H.264

Lanner Electronics, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced network video technologies, today announced the release of the world’s first 16-channel integrated H.264 video motherboard for Video over IP applications. The Lanner VM-8016 all-in-one video encoding motherboard simultaneously captures and encodes 16 channels of analog video to H.264 compressed digital format directly on the motherboard without external capture cards.

"The VM-8016 addresses the compatibility and long-term support issues of commercial motherboards and video capture cards," said Herman Chen, Lanner Electronics Video Communications Product Manager. "By including the video encoding hardware, audio and alarm inputs and outputs on the motherboard, our customers do not have to worry about compatibility, and can build more flexibility into their product offerings, reduce development time and achieve faster time to market," he said.

The Lanner VM-8016 all-in-one video motherboard features an LGA775 socket for Intel® Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad CPU, Intel GMA 3100 integrated graphics, six SATA II hard drive ports and two DIMMs for up to 4GB DDR2 memory. It also provides 16 channel audio inputs and onboard audio/video synchronization, two gigabit LAN ports for high-throughput networking and a PCI-E (x16) expansion slot for an independent VGA adaptor or an additional Lanner capture card. In addition to onboard H.264 video encoding, audio encoding and audio/video synchronization, the VM-8016 also offers eight alarm inputs and eight outputs for alarm-trigger and access control, and one RS-485 to support dome cameras and other physical security devices.

By integrating all of the I/O controller and H.264 chips directly on the motherboard, Lanner has created a platform that is easy to deploy and even easier to develop full-featured IP video systems on. Additionally, the VM-8016 addresses long-term support issues by providing a platform built entirely of long life-cycle parts, ensuring Lanner customers that they will have the support and product availability for long cycle industrial applications.

The VM-8016 is available for sample orders immediately. For more information, please contact a Lanner representative at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or visit us on the web at www.lannerinc.com.
