Page 1 of 3 But Linux has been around for years, and just as there are ardent, devoted fans of Linux, there are haters, too. I wouldn’t put myself in that category – I’m in the process of trying out 8.10 for myself, although I firmly believe that Windows is the better choice for most people today. Windows is easier to install, easier to use, has the widest range of consumer, business and gaming software, has the widest hardware compatibility and much nicer people to help you when things go wrong. Linux users have lots of help available too, but fixing problems usually means delving into the command line to edit files, and compared with the usual click-and-point simplicity of Windows, Linux is generally harder, especially if you’re already well versed in the ways of Windows. Sure, you can learn, and copy-pasting commands is not hard, but if you’re a happy Windows user just getting your work done, learning a whole new operating system just so you can do the very same things that you can now isn’t what I’d call a productive use of my time, although Linux fans would unquestionably disagree. One of the most well known Linux haters is the anonymous person behind the Linux Hater’s Blog. I only discovered it recently, and have had fun reading about the weird things that happen in the Linux world. Sadly, the Linux Hater’s Blog has reached the EOF, or “end of file”. See what he has to say on page 2, along with the address of the new Linux Hater’s blog. |
