5 Best Practices for Smartphone Support
Given there’s only a $20 difference between the 250GB and 320GB versions, the 320GB will probably be the most popular model of the bunch. Separately available is the FreeAgent Dock and Case. The FreeAgent drives plug vertically into the dock, and for those who like everything “neat and tidy” on their desks, the dock will be a very likely purchase, while the “black leatherette case” is a handy extra to keep your drive scratch free. Together they cost AUD $39.99. Then there’s the FreeAgent Desk and the FreeAgent XTreme drives, both 3.5-inch drives with bigger capacities of up to 1.5TB. The Desk is a brushed, aluminium colour, and has a USB 2.0 interface, while the Xtreme comes in black brushed aluminium colour has and has three connectivity options: USB 2.0, eSATA and FireWire 400. The FreeAgent Desk costs $159 for 500GB, $189 for 640GB, $299 for 1TB and $369 for 1.5TB. Given that you can get an extra 140GB for $30, the 640GB model will likely be popular, although for some 1.5TB will be hard to pass up! The FreeAgent Xtreme comes in only one size: 1TB, and sells for $329, and if you feel the need for speed and have an eSATA connection on your computer, you’ll probably find it “Xtremely” hard to resist. Then there are the new Mac FreeAgent drives, the FreeAgent Go for Mac and the FreeAgent Desk for Mac. Both are pre-formatted for OS X and are “Time Machine” compatible with either FireWire or USB connections. The FreeAgent Go Drive for Mac comes with Firewire 800/400 and USB 2.0, so it works with any Mac – even the new MacBook 13-inch models which inexplicably have FireWire omitted. It comes in two sizes: 250GB for $269 and 320GB for $319. The FreeAgent Desk Drive for Mac has a FireWire 800/400 connection, is a 3.5-inch drive and comes in three sizes, 500GB (for $249), 1TB for $399 and a nice big 1.5TG size for $499.
