Page 3 of 4 Aztenek won a “Best of CES” award in the “Car Technology & GPS” at this year’s 2008 CES, while also winning the 2008 International Telematics award for “Best Aftermarket Device” for its in-car PC systems. Featured Whitepaper
5 Best Practices for Smartphone Support
An Intel Core Duo T2300 1.66GHz processor, a 160GB hard drive, 1GB DIMM memory, Microsoft Windows Vista, Hands-free calling, Voice-activated navigation, DVD-ROM and CD-RW drive, Bluetooth enabled, 6.5-inch LCD-TFT digital touch screen monitor, Internal WiFi 802.11b/g wireless connectivity, Satellite radio and HD radio ready, Integrated FM and digital TV tuners. It also “integrates completely” with the car’s engine computer letting you see trip information or car diagnostics info. The Azentek CPC-1100’s features are identical, save for a 7-inch motorised touch screen and the “vehicle diagnostics package” which is optional. Gizmosis and Azentek say installation costs are around $450, and a Westwell representative said at the launch they were talking to Australian car manufacturers about offering the Azentek as a factory option, while both companies plan to start distributing their respective in-car PCs at JB Hi-Fi, although the Gizmosis has already been locally available through its distributor since late last year. Asked about Windows 7, Azentek said its in-car PCs will be compatible with a customised, upgraded version of Windows 7 to become available sometime after Windows 7 actually launches. Azentek’s third product is the SmartMirror. It retails for AUD $1499, and as previously described is a rear view mirror replacement with integrated GPS navigation. It has a four-inch touch screen LCD monitor with integrated Bluetooth, and is completely independent of the Azentek in-car PCs. It naturally offers the same Bluetooth hands-free phone capabilities of many other modern GPS devices, has incoming caller ID on screen, automatic call answering and even comes “complete with reversing camera”. Other key features include a 400MHz processer, 64MB internal memory, a 2GB SD card for storing maps, pictures and ebooks, Windows CE .NET 4.2, Inbuilt GPS receiver, Navigon Mobile Navigator 6.5, Voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, Millions of points of interest, Intuitive menus and 3D maps and Spoken street names. Michelle Jin, Operations Director, Westwell Australia, said, “The Azentek in-car technologies are ground-breaking products which provide the highest quality features ever offered in automotive computer systems. This award-winning technology is the future of in-car entertainment and we expect strong uptake in the local marketplace.” So, what’s an alternative to either in-car computer with your Nokia N95, N96, N82 or other N-Series device, or your Windows Mobile devices like the HTC Touch Pro and the imate Ultimate 9502?
