Outsourcing and IT services provider CSC has signed an information support services contract with Western Power, the Western Australian Government-owned electricity network utility, in a deal which takes the business between the two groups to more than AUD$27 million.

The new three-year contract, with two one-year options, brings the estimated total contract value to AUD$11.8 million. This follows a separate AUD$15.4 million contract awarded to CSC in April this year for mainframe operations and support.

Under the new contract, CSC will provide Western Power with desktop services for more than 4,700 desktops, including security, asset management and procurement support, and the establishment of a standard operating environment to ensure systems are kept up to date.

CSC will also work with Western Power to explore a virtual desktop solution throughout the company’s Western Australian locations, optimising the desktop environment and providing additional flexibility to users.

"Western Power has been delighted with the high level of expertise and cost effective pricing that CSC has provided with their mainframe support services,” said Leigh Sprlyan, Western Power Chief Information Officer. “We had no hesitation in awarding CSC the contract to deliver a disciplined and cost effective solution for our desktop services as well.”

“CSC is pleased to continue its close association with Western Power, “said Nick Wilkinson, president of CSC’s Australian operations. “This latest win demonstrates CSC’s broad end-toend expertise from mainframe through to the desktop, and reaffirms our position as the largest provider of IT services in Western Australia.”

CSC clients in Western Australia include WA Police, Alcoa, Landgate, Water Corporation, Newmont Mining, Department of Planning and Infrastructure, Department of the Attorney General, Woodside, BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto.
