Vodafone roots for small business telecommunications through ‘Bizfone’ E-mail

Businesses: Vodafone wants to do the biz with you through its new business channel partner, “Bizfone”, a separate company set up to provide sales, service and support to the “grass roots” of small businesses in Australia.

In a bid to grab more of the small business telecommunications market, Vodafone has joined forces with “Bizfone”, a new company established by “former Vodafone national sales managers, Bruce Goldsmith and Craig McMillan”.

The dynamic duo identified an “opportunity for local communications consultants to sell Vodafone mobile services directly to small and medium-sized businesses”, and are offering “individually licensed territories to approved applicants at no upfront cost.”

It sounds like Bizfone is trying to both offer a more personalised business service as well as capture a revenue stream in conjunction with Vodafone, giving entrepreneurs an opportunity to make money from the telecommunications business once more, although what levels of income are possible is something Bizfone will share with interested parties through “career presentation evenings”.

John Casey, Chief Marketing Officer at Vodafone Australia is predictably upbeat about the deal, saying: ““In the current economic environment, Australian businesses are looking for new ways to consolidate their communications costs and implement mobile solutions that enable employees to work smarter. Vodafone has always stood for exceptional value for money and Bizfone's local sales approach will bring a strong customer-centric solution focus.”

Bruce Goldsmith, Director of Bizfone, said: “Never has the maxim: think global, buy local been more appropriate. Small and medium-sized businesses in Australia want the personalised sales, service and support that comes from dealing with a small, specialist consultancy.”

Bizfone says that “licensees will be granted unique territories and will focus their attention on selling mobile voice and mobile data services from Vodafone to companies with up to 250 employees.”

Licensees with “also be permitted to resell other small business IT&T solutions, such as Blackberry mobile email services from Vodafone and fixed broadband.”

Goldsmith’s comments continue on page 2.
