SonyEricsson W580i 20. Motorola V323i While the Motorola RAZR is the top phone in the US, the Nokia N95 is the top phone in the UK, with the iPhone in 6th spot. AdMob says the Nokia N95 gained share steadily throughout the year in the UK and is now the leading handset with 9.7% share of requests, while SonyEricsson currently has 10 devices in the Top 20; the K800i (No.2) and W810i (No.3) remained in the Top 5 from 2007. In addition, 14 of the handsets are new to the Top 20, only slightly less turnover than in the US. 4 smartphones in the UK Top 20: the Nokia N95, Apple iPhone, SonyEricsson W910i, and Nokia N73. Interestingly, the Skypephone makes it into the 7th spot, showing Skype’s growing impact on the traditional mobile phone market despite its Internet phone origins. Also, Apple iPhone share of ad requests was 2.2% in September 2008, up from 0.8% in August 2008. The top 20 phones in the UK and globally follow on page 3, as does requests by smartphone operating systems on a global basis. |
