How to save 12 percent on your power bill instantly E-mail

In the US it is estimated the cost of wasted stand by power sucks US$4 to $5 billion dollars from the economy.  What about all those office buildings and the hundreds of desktops therein?

“It depends.” Emby says “Where this product works particularly well is in the consumer or small business scenario.  If however, you are working for the National Australia Bank and you a network machine or laptop with all services centralized, printing, storage and so on, there are no peripheral devices to switch off.  Your IT administrator is going to be looking elsewhere such as virtualization to save power”

So the home and small business environments are the target demographic, but what is in it for them?

“This is the idea; I think people are motivated by a couple of things, making a contribution and what is in it for me?” Emby said   “I expect a small amount of people to act altruistically, and the rest …..“

“The typical savings” Emby continued “figures released by the Danish government talk about 100 kwh per year as a typical saving.  Now if you are a heavy user that could be substantially more.”tricklestar31.jpg

“In terms of what that equates to this product will retail to around AU$25.. The base cost of power in Australia is around 17cents per kwh.  If you purchase green power then add 40 percent more.”

“Power cost in Australia is quite low, so a typical consumer would be looking at six to twelve months to recoup the cost”.  Emby said.

If you are a gamer however, typically you move into the “heavy user” category, the savings become more substantial. “If you have these type of devices, PlayStation 3 is a big offender, around 40W of power drain in standby,  these are not classified in the typical figures quoted earlier” Emby commented.

TrickleStar have already launched the products in Denmark, aiming for early November of the US market, Australia mid November and UK/Europe in December.
