Before the end of the year Wii owners will be given a voice with the new Wii Speak peripheral and channel.

So even though Nintendo are officially running out of peripheral ideas , some of their recently announced ones have now obtained concrete release dates.wiispeak.jpg

This time around it is the Wii Speak microphone peripheral and associated Wii Speak channel on the shopping list for Wii owners.

Arriving in North America this November 16th and Europe on December 5th, the device allows users to speak to people on their Friends List with Mii animation providing visual representation.  (No Australian/New Zealand confirmation yet).

Wii speakers will be able to leave voice or text messages as well as narrate captions for a photo show.  Up to four consoles can hook up for a little Wii conferencing.

Wii Speak will be available as a standalone product or as a bundle with the new Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City game.  No pricing has been announced at this point in time.

It will be interesting to try out a Wii Speak – sitting as it does near the TV/Monitor – is the increased potential for “feedback” over the traditional – less party orientated – console headsets sported by rival gaming consoles.
