Page 2 of 2 One feature that might be nice but isn’t talked about in the MacRumors story is the ability to see a list of words you’ve programmed into the autocorrect feature simply by having typed them a lot, so you could weed out any mistyped words or even directly add others, in addition to training the autocorrect as you type. Macrumors quotes Eimei Yokota, an analyst with MM Research as saying: "The iPhone is a difficult phone to use for the Japanese market because there are so many features it doesn't have” with one of those features being the “emoji” emoticons “inserted in sentences to jazz up emails”. Sadly, there’s no word yet on much requested features such as copy, cut and paste, notes synchronisation and a system wide search. Or full Bluetooth. Or Flash. Or the introduction of the promised background processing, let alone real, actual multitasking. Oh well. Perhaps they’re being saved until iPhone OS 2.5, or even iPhone OS 3.0. In the meantime, let’s hope that any iPhone Google Street View gets that cool compass mode preferably in iPhone OS 2.2, if not in a future version. That would be one cool feature, and would make up for the fact that most of the rest of the world won’t get the chance to buy a G1 Android Phone or one of the many other Android models on the way sometime in 2009, and beyond, as opposed to T-Mobile customers that can snap up a G1 later this month. Ah, the Google gPhone, two steps in the alphabet behind the iPhone, but one step ahead on Google Street View... but for how much longer? Apple's iPhone OS 2.2 is due out later this month. Can't wait, and I'm sure the iPhone Dev Team can't wait to hack it! :-) |
