What's more, those same sources are insisting that the MacBook will come complete with some NVIDIA power under the hood. "A source tells us that NVIDIA is showing off new MacBooks to their employees" TUAW says. Yes, it is a rumour site, and yes it does get things wrong quite often. Thing is, TUAW also gets things absolutely spot on rather a lot as well. Because of its high profile in the leaky Apple news business, there are plenty of insiders happy to drop a word in the direction of TUAW about forthcoming releases. Other sites have also been talking up the NVIDIA MacBook connection. Take Mac Soda which just last month insisted that the new MacBook will come with the equally new NVIDIA MCP7A-U graphics chipset. Heck, I was suggesting that the new MacBook would possibly come replete with a NVIDIA produced chipset as far back as July, right here at iTWire. Of course, the primary CPU will continue to be an Intel Inside experience but if the MacBook can get some additional graphical gaming oomph out of NVIDIA then I for one would not be unhappy. Nor would I be too upset if Apple reduces the footprint in terms of weight and power consumption. Especially if it involves the rumoured one-piece aluminium body. Then there is that glass trackpad that has also been suggested as being on the new MacBook design agenda. A smooth surfaced multi-touch affair that supports user gestures no less. Of course, there were also plenty of rumours that the new Macbook was going to be revealed at the Let's Rock event back at the start of September, but here at iTWire we said that was unlikely. And we were right. Only time will tell if TUAW is also right on this occasion, and we should all know in a week... |
