Halo movie resurrected by Gears of War writer E-mail

Desperate for ideas,and with writer’s strikes causing producers to remove tufts of cranial coverage, Hollywood is increasingly turning other media for inspiration, be it comic/graphic books or video games.  Once shelved, now it seems fans of the Halo series might have something cinematic to look forward to.

Remember the “Fan Boi” excitement when the news hit that Lord of the Rings (and The Frighteners ) director Peter Jackson picked up the gig from Microsoft to produce a movie based on the Xbox iconic Halo video game?  See below for how excited(not!) Jackson was about the idea.

Well Bois dry those tears, it seems the video game geek level has been ratcheted up a notch with the news that Gears of War (another Xbox 360 exclusive game franchise becoming a movie), Pirates of the Caribbean and G.I Joe  scribe Stuart Beattie has produced a script for his own version of a Halo movie.

According to the interview on gamedaily the Hollywood screenwriter sat down during the recent screenwriters and bashed out his own prequel (to the games) screen play.

Beattie has shown the script to both Bungie (who according to him, loved it) and is now dealing with Microsoft and from there the studios to get the project off the ground.
