US Bailout Crisis: Microsoft and McCain mouth off, House website and tech stocks bomb E-mail
by Davey Winder
Tuesday, 30 September 2008
Following news of the vote breaking, the House website has been experiencing more traffic than at any time since immediately after the 9/11 Commission report was published.

Although the site itself has not crashed, it has become so bogged down that it is all but impossible to connect.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that millions of people were trying to use the application that allows them to email their representatives.

But fear not, all is well, here comes Microsoft to save the day. Microsoft General Counsel Brad Smith issued a statement on behalf of the company urging the U.S. House of Representatives to reconsider the legislation.

"This legislation is vitally important to the health and preservation of jobs in all sectors of the economy of Washington State and the nation, and we urge Congress to act swiftly" Microsoft says.

Meanwhile John McCain is predictably blaming Barack Obama, and other Republicans are blaming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for making a 'partisan speech' in the debate.

Obama has sniped at McCain for injecting Presidential politics into the process.

However, I think everyone around the world will agree with Obama and Microsoft when they say: just get it done. For all our sakes...
