US Bailout Crisis: Microsoft and McCain mouth off, House website and tech stocks bomb E-mail

The US Stock Market has dive bombed following the failure of the proposed 700 billion dollar bailout bill at the hands of the House of Representatives. Tech stocks felt the pressure, as did the House website which appears to be crumbling under the strain. Thank goodness, here come Microsoft and Obama to save the day...

There can be no escaping the fact that Monday September 29th 2008 will go down in history as the day the credit crunch turned the corner towards market meltdown after President Bush failed to get the approval required to pass his USD $700 billion toxic debt bailout plan.

Wall Street reacted predictably to the news, with one of the biggest drops in values ever seen as USD $1.2 Trillion dollars were dragged screaming out of the US stock market by nervous investors.

CNN is reporting that this is the biggest one day plunge in market values in history.

The tech sector was unable to avoid the apparent panic, losing just under 9 percent of its combined value in all.

Channel Insider reports that all 50 of the leading tech vendors and distributors it monitors suffered losses.

The Internet, of course, has played a part in all of this. The VoteNoBailout website claims more than 100,000 letters sent within 24 hours to members of the House of Representatives to urge them to vote against the bailout.

How has the House of Representatives website held up to all this, where does Microsoft enter the argument and what does Barack Obama have to say about it all? More on page 2...
