The premise is to showcase a musical act at iconic Aussie locals as part of the Xbox Sounds promotion. Tickets to each event will be free, offered through competitions and promotions in the lead-up to each performance. First up will be The Pussycat Dolls performing tracks off their new album Doll Domination, including the Platinum hit single “When I Grow Up”. The girls will be striding the northern boardwalk of the Sydney Opera House. “The Xbox Sounds series is going to be huge”, said David McLean, Regional Director, Entertainment Devices Division. “We’ve lined up some brilliant artists to perform at the events. With the worlds of music and gaming becoming increasingly connected, Xbox is in an ideal position to work in partnership with Universal Music and Tourism Australia to secure some of our country’s most amazing landmarks as unforgettable backdrops for these events.” “The Pussycat Dolls are the biggest girl band in the world right now and to have them in Australia and performing at the Sydney Opera House is sensational. I couldn’t imagine a better way for everyone in Australia to celebrate the launch of the Dolls fantastic new album Doll Domination, in conjunction with the launch of Xbox Sounds from our friends at Microsoft”, says George Ash, Managing Director of Universal Music Australia. No other acts have been announced, undoubtedly whatever other acts turn up, they will somehow be related to the 30 tracks hitting Lips for the Xbox 360. The good thing about Lips however will not just be the motion sensitive microphone controllers, but also the ability to freestyle with your Zune or iPod collection. Other acts we hope to see over the Aussie summer. The Fauves at Uluru, Hunters and Collecters reform gig at the Esplanade hotel in St Kilda, The Cruel Sea swimming with the dolphins off the coast of Broome and Nick Cave with the Bad Seeds in cork hats and dryzabone’s performing at Port Arthur. I am sure there are more on the wish lists. |
