Google Android phone: it IS “iPhone exciting” E-mail

We also know that Google Phone software is created in Java, a well known programming language, and has attracted strong developer interest, seemingly without the restrictions that Apple has placed on iPhone development.

And, according to the T-Mo News Blog, the Google Phone looks similar to many of the Windows Mobile smartphones with a slide out keyboard.

HTC is smart to have partnered with Google on this phone, as it's a major manufacturer, primarily of Windows Mobile smartphones, but doesn't have its own OS, as is the case with Nokia, Apple, Sony Ericsson or other companies.

So, HTC has to innovate on the hardware side, and needs to work closely with Microsoft and Google who DO have operating systems to sell lots of hardware.

The HTC Dream is the codename for the Google Android phone, and unlike any WM6 phone it comes with a trackball, like the current BlackBerry range.

As you'd expect, the phone also works on both the 3G and 2G networks.

T-Mo News says that it has “one click” Google search, and “one click” access to:

Maps (including satellite, traffic and "Street View")
Gmail
YouTube
Calendar
Google Talk

T-Mo News doesn't mention it, but it's also supposed to come with the Google Chrome browser - and who knows what other apps we'll see? Google Talk also brings the likelihood of VoIP phone calls to the table, and that's something the iPhone doesn't do out-of-the-box, that's for sure!

We should also see things like Google Docs, Google Reader, Google Gears and other Google apps become available. Heck, is this the Google Phone, or is it the Google Computer?!

What else will the gPhone offer? Please read on to the final page!
