The other regional finalists in the Spore creature design competition were Wesley James Maggs (Australia), Jacky Chan (Hong Kong), Ajay Gupta (India), Soichiro Sakibara (Japan), Lee Jung Hun (Korea), Jacquieline Marie Hyslop (New Zealand), Stefanie Tan Ying Xiu (Singapore), and Chen Chun-Yu (Taiwan). No transliteration was provided for the name of the winner of the China round. For their efforts, all ten finalists picked up an HP Pavilion dv4 notebook, five EA games, and a trip for two to the EA Experience at the Peak in Hong Kong for the regional final. Own Blood was chosen by a process involving a public vote plus a ballot of IT journalists attending a HP media briefing in Hong Kong this week, which led to Santivorapong taking home the $US5000 first prize. All the prizewinners were recognised by Patrick De Moustier, COO of EA Asia studios, and Ajay Mohan, vice president, marketing, HP personal systems group, Asia Pacific and Japan. You can see a gallery of the regional finalists' entries at www.sporeshow.com. The writer visited Hong Kong as the guest of HP. He admits that he did not vote for Own Blood. |
