Websense to Revolutionise Web Security, Launches Broadest Portfolio in Company History
Wednesday, 24 September 2008
Websense, Inc. (NASDAQ: WBSN) has introduced the industry's most unified and effective Web and data security offerings, launched a new brand identity and unveiled a new marketing campaign to further establish Websense as the premier global provider of Web, data and email security solutions.
Websense has introduced the industry's first real-time Web 2.0 content classification and malware protection product, the Websense® Web Security Gateway. Based on the latest release of the company's flagship Web security platform, Websense Web Security Version 7, the Web Security Gateway allows businesses to embrace and use Web 2.0 technologies to accelerate their business goals - without having to worry about malicious or inappropriate content. In addition, the company has announced the general availability of Websense Data Security Endpoint, the latest addition to the company's award-winning data loss prevention portfolio that helps businesses stop data leaks through hard-to-control communications channels, such as USB devices, printers and applications where confidential data could be copied and pasted, along with networked resources.
"In today's world, the lines between work and personal time are often blurred," said Gene Hodges, Websense chief executive officer. "Many of our customers asked us for ways they could open up the Web for employees -- for both business and personal use -- without putting the business at risk. We've delivered the first data-centric security portfolio that gives businesses the power to say 'Yes' to Web 2.0 without worrying about data loss."
Frost & Sullivan says Websense will be "the 'go-to' computer security company for corporations seeking solutions to protect both their networks and their data." The leading analyst firm says the data loss prevention market will grow to US$2.1 billion with a compound annual growth rate of 41.1 percent.
"Since the acquisition of PortAuthority, Websense has delivered three major product releases of Websense Data Security Suite and tripled the install base. Additionally, more than 65 percent of Websense data loss prevention customers use both Web security and data loss prevention technologies, giving them unique visibility and control over where confidential data can be sent," added Hodges. "We believe that we have the right product set, strategy and ability to execute to deliver value and return on investment to our customers and achieve at least 10 percent growth in 2009 billings."
Approaching Next Industry First in Web Security
Continuing a history of innovation in Web security, Websense will deliver the industry's first real-time Web 2.0 content classification and malware protection product, the Websense Web Security Gateway. Dozens of organisations worldwide are already using the solution to classify new and dynamic content on Web 2.0 sites in real-time, to determine immediately whether a Web site and its content are safe.
The pioneer in developing security protection for the Web, and the recognised worldwide market share leader in Web security, Websense has steadily released new technology enhancements to combat the changing Web 2.0 threat environment and protect customers' essential information. In March 2008, the company announced its next-generation research and classification system -- the ThreatSeeker™ Network -- the technological foundation for the new Websense Web Security Gateway. In August 2007, Websense deployed new systems across the Internet called "HoneyJax" that emulate user behaviour within Web 2.0 applications to uncover threats before they spread. Websense Web Security Gateway is built on more than 10 years of Web security research and innovation.
As a security company committed to channel partners, Websense is revving up training, certification and other programs designed to help channel partners offer the latest Websense Web security products to customers. In fact, hundreds of channel partners have already signed up for the more than 15 webcasts Websense is holding to educate partners on the latest Websense Web security solutions.
Websense launched the industry's first Web security certification program in June 2008, and starting on October 1, 2008, Websense will launch a professional certification program specifically for the new Websense Web Security Gateway. Additionally, the new "Websense Just Reward" program, kicked-off on September 4, 2008, rewards channel sales representatives for attending new educational webcasts, engaging in training opportunities and closing deals. More than 200 channel sales representatives signed up to date.
Websense Helps CIOs Say Yes to Web 2.0
Symbolising this next phase in the company's growth strategy, Hodges will also unveil the new Websense brand and logo. The brand supports the new Websense Essential Information Protection™ portfolio and reflects the ability of its products to help chief information officers enable safe use of -- say "Yes!" to -- Web 2.0 in the workplace.
"Websense is best known for being the pioneer in helping CIOs block or restrict access to malicious or time-draining Web sites," added Hodges. "This month marks a pivotal inflection point in Websense history, as we deliver what I consider our most important product launch grounded by the strength of the refreshed Websense brand. Only with Websense, can CIOs say 'Yes!' to business management when they need to use Web 2.0 to drive business objectives. You will see our refreshed brand reflected in everything we do over time."
The new Websense logo reflects a changed company that supports the message that Websense is more than a Web company by emphasising "sense" more than "Web." Despite continuing to be the industry leader in Web security, the company also offers data loss prevention and email security solutions. Part of the unique value Websense brings to customers is the Internet intelligence fed into its products from the ThreatSeeker™Network -- the boldness of "sense" reflects that value statement.
