The starting point for HP's 24 hour notebook is the EliteBook 6930p, a 14in business notebook offered with various Core 2 Duo CPUs. With standard configurations ranging in price from $US1199 to $US2179, the low end of the EliteBook 6930p family overlaps the high end of Dell's Latitude E6400 in both price and features. But to get the 24 hour battery life "As measured by an industry-standard benchmark" (HP didn't say which one), you'll need certain options that aren't available yet. They are the forthcoming Intel 80G solid state drive and HP's Illumi-Lite LED display, both of which are scheduled for October release. "Intel architected its new line of high-performance solid-state drives specifically to bring a new level of performance and reliability to the computing platform and make significant impact to the way people use their PCs," said Randy Wilhelm, vice president and general manager of Intel's NAND products group. "The HP milestone is an example of the impact of this new level of performance that specifically delivers on lower power consumption for longer battery life," he added. CONTINUED |
