The issue also impacts Internet Explorer 6 and .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0, all on Windows 2000. There are also important ramifications for Office XP, 2003 and 2007, Visio 2002, PowerPoint Viewer 2003, and Works 8. Furthermore, the bulletin is rated critical for Digital Image Suite 2006, SQL 2000 Reporting Services on Windows 2000, and SQL Server 2005 (including x64 and Itanium versions). It also affects Visual Studio 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2008; Report Viewer Redistributable 2005 and 2008; Visual FoxPro 8.0 and 9.0; Microsoft Platform SDK Redistributable: GDI+; and Forefront Client Security on Windows 2000. The fourth bulletin for the month affects various versions of Microsoft Office and related software. It is rated critical for Office OneNote 2007, and important for Office XP, 2003 and 2007. As usual, the Malicious Software Removal Tool will be updated, along with the Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter. The non-security updates scheduled for September 9 are a fix for the Hyper-V Volume Shadow Copy Service on Server 2008 x64 edition, a "reliability update" for Vista and Server 2008, and an "update to resolve a set of known application compatibility issues" for Vista and Server 2008. So September is a relatively quiet month in terms of the actual number of bulletins, but as they all have a maximum rating of critical and apply to very commonly used software, sysadmins will need to stay on their toes. |
