Page 2 of 2 The NASA competition is also based on the unfortunate situation, which currently exists in the world, in which commercial supersonic aircraft are no longer flying anywhere on Earth. This situation has existed since the British and French Concorde fleets were retired in 2003. For contest information and submission guidelines, visit the NASA website of “Fundamental Aeronautics Student Competition 2008-2009: Technical Area: Supersonic Flight Project.” The Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD), which is located in Washington, D.C., is holding the competition under its Fundamental Aeronautics Program. ARMD personnel will review, judge, and announce the winners of the contest. All entries will be judged on “informed content, imagination, innovation, creativity, relevancy, organization and writing.” NASA states that winners in the high school division will be awarded $1,000, for individuals, and $1,500, for group entries. In the college division, winners will be eligible for paid student NASA internships and cash totaling up to $5,000. May the best teams win!
