Page 3 of 3 So what's so great about Firefox?In my opinion, and this is purely subjective, it is great because of the add-ons (which are also known as extensions). Add-ons are little applications that people and companies (including Google and many others) have programmed to extend the functionality of Firefox, making it much more than "just" a web browser. Other add-ons provide functionality for ad-blocking on web sites (Ad-Block Plus) to encrypting and decrypting emails (FireGPG) to an FTP client (FireFTP) to add-ons which synchronise bookmarks across computers (Foxmarks) to add-ons which will control iTunes and other media players (FoxyTunes) to an add-on which gives shows the progress of loading a website in the address bar, a la Apple's Safari (Fission). What people have dreamed up and made work is almost an endless list. I am sure that many of my loyal readers will come up with other reasons why we all love Firefox and I hope they will let us all know why they like and use Firefox. I hope that this has gone some way to demsytifying Mozilla Firefox and encouraged you all to ty it out and experiment. Firefox is not just for Linux, you can use it with Windows too. Take a look at the Mozilla website, download, install and have a play with it. Make sure you try some of the vast array of add-ons. If you have any questions please leave a comment.
