Law firms were relatively quick to adopt the BlackBerry as it promised increased productivity, or as Duckett puts it, to have their staff on call 24/7.

"Mobile computing devices such as the iPhone are probably one of the few areas where there is the possibility of increasing productivity, and legal firms will be quick to recognise this," he suggested.

"[T]he younger generation expect [new technology] and they will be going for the iPhone," predicted Duckett, who will be a speaker at the Lawtech Summit and Awards to be held at Byron Bay on September 25 and 26.
