3Com Corporation has appointed Chris Brown as its convergence business manager, Asia Pacific, charged with promoting its IP telephony products.

Brown will be based in Sydney and the company said his appointment was a direct response to increased market opportunities for its VCX and NBX IP telephony products throughout the Asia Pacific region and "demonstrates further commitment to the continuation of 3Com's Secure, Converged Network strategy, which ensures business networks can carry all traffic with security, reliability and interoperability."

Most recently he was with Nortel, responsible for rolling out its convergence platform across the Asia Pacific region.

According to Brown,"3Com already has a strong base of partners covering the SME market, as well as select range of partners addressing full enterprise requirements. My aim is to support and grow the existing enterprise partners while working with the high-end SME partners that have the skills, resources and enthusiasm to service our customers and prospects in the enterprise space."
