Fathers Day PlayStation Portable for AU$35, well, sort of E-mail

Sony Australia have released information regarding how you can pick up a PlayStation Portable (PSP) device for a measly AU$35 (normally AU$279) from today until Fathers Day September 7th.  There is only one little catch.

Received a press release from Sony today, it details a new promotion from now until Fathers Day, September 7th.

The headline announces PSP’s for sale for AU$35, with Sony making an associated donation to the charity arm of the business, Sony Foundation Australia of a corresponding AU$35 for each PSP sold.

The Sony Foundation Australia aims to support talented, yet disadvantaged youth in Australia – the stated mission is; “To capitalise on the unique qualities of Sony and contribute to the advancement of the Australian community by assisting its youth and fostering their talents.”

According to Sony:  A particular success from this set-up has been the Sony Foundation children’s holiday camps. These have given high school students the opportunity to take time out from their school holidays to care for a developmentally delayed child over a weekend full of fun activities. The camps provide much needed respite for parents as well as offering an enriching experience for both the children and students.

All philanthropic ideals aside, what is the deal for prospective PSP owners?

Normally a PSP sells for AU$279, and what better way to clear out stock before the arrival of the AU$299 PSP-3000 in October than to have a fire sale?

The press release states,  “[you can get your $35 PSP]…when you purchase other selected Sony products.”

So how does it work – onto Page 2 for the deets.
